Position Title:  Engine Sales Manager, Resource Power Group (“RPG”)

Location:  Houston, TX

Reports to: VP/General Manager, RPG

Resource Power Group is an authorized MaK and EMD engine distributor. It is one of MaK’s largest marine distributors worldwide. RPG is a division of Louisiana Machinery Company LLC, Caterpillar’s largest marine dealer. RPG is also an authorized dealer of Napier Turbochargers, MET Turbochargers, and various other engines, components, and systems for power, marine, and industrial applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day MaK and EMD engine and gen-set sales for power, marine, and industrial applications in the assigned territory.  While territories are different for different products, the Manager will pursue opportunities in the southeast US, Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and Mexico.
  • In the spirit of teamwork, the Engine Sales Manager collaborates with other managers in RPG to achieve results for RPG.
  • Creates an annual sales plan. Proposes the annual sales plan and budget for approval. Executes on the approved plan and budget. Pays particular attention to near-term sales opportunities. Responsible to deliver budgeted profit for those products sold.
  • Calls on shipyards, naval architects, and ship owners in the marine sales territory. Calls on utilities, architects, engineers, and IPPs in the power generation territory.
  • Personally manages the sales process for all clients. After the sale, the Engine Sales Manager oversees the relationship with the key parties to insure that the delivery, commissioning, and warranty period meet the end-user’s satisfaction. This position has one direct report who can assist with producing quotations, managing the commissioning, and administering warranty claims.
  • Reports to VP/General Manager weekly and monthly (or as directed) on sales planning and execution.
  • As a separate matter, and if assigned, this position will also be responsible for the product support sales to certain assigned customers. For these duties, the Engine Sales Manager will report to the Operations Manager, who oversees the overall product support sales effort for the total territory.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction, safety and profitability 
  • Establishes a culture of professionalism and open interactive team communication with a focus on a sense of urgency.  
  • Meets or exceeds the customers’ expectations as well as the Company’s initiatives and maintains Caterpillar’s standards of excellence


Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership skills in a product sales management environment.
  • A 4-year college degree is preferred.
  • 5-10 years relevant work experience.
  • Bi-Lingual (English and Spanish) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of marine engines and/or power generation engine gen-sets and their application. Experience with land-based (power generation) applications and balance of plant is preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior level of business acumen and professionalism.
  • Sales leadership experience
  • Exceptional leadership skills, conflict resolution, and negotiating skills.
  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications.U.S. Citizenship or green card required.


Position Title:  Branch Manager, Mexico

Location:  Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico

Reports to: VP/General Manager, RPG (in Houston)

RPG is a division of Louisiana Machinery Company LLC, Caterpillar’s largest marine dealer. RPG is also an authorized dealer of Napier Turbochargers, MET Turbochargers, and various other engines, components, and systems for power, marine, and industrial applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day business activities for RPG in Mexico. These include sales of capital equipment and product support. The typical capital equipment is MaK and EMD engines and gen-sets for power, marine, and industrial applications.  The product support includes service and parts sales for medium-speed engines, turbochargers, fuel equipment, governors, and control systems.
  • In the spirit of teamwork, the Branch Manager collaborates with other managers in RPG to achieve results for RPG.
  • Creates an annual sales plan. Proposes the annual sales plan and budget for approval. Executes on the approved plan and budget. Pays particular attention to near-term sales opportunities. Responsible to deliver budgeted profit for the Mexican operations.
  • Calls on shipyards, naval architects, and ship owners in the marine sales territory. Calls on utilities, architects, engineers, and IPPs in the power generation territory.
  • Manages the sales process for all clients, but personally handles the relationships with key clients such as PEMEX. This position has one direct report who focuses on the sales of product support. Going forward, the Branch Manager may have other direct reports for field service operations, shop repairs, and administration as necessary.
  • Reports to VP/General Manager weekly and monthly (or as directed) on sales planning, sales execution, financial performance, and legal and HR matters.
  • As a separate matter, and if assigned, this position will also be responsible for sales in adjacent territories such as Central America.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction, safety and profitability 
  • Establishes a culture of professionalism and open interactive team communication with a focus on a sense of urgency.
